What is a PEP?

The benchmark Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for electrical, electronic and HVAC equipment

It provides relevant and reliable data on the environmental impact of your product:

  • The environmental identity card for an electrical, electronic or HVAC product
  • An environmental declaration process based on product life-cycle assessment, in compliance with current standards (ISO 14025, 14040, 14044, EN 50693 and EN 63366),
  • An internationally-recognised declaration verified by an independent third party.

Guaranteed quality and reliability

PEP Ecopassport provides an ecosystem for the publication, verification and sharing of your products’ environmental data.

Publication and verification

The PEP is drawn up by the product manufacturer, who then publishes it on a voluntary basis. The PEP Ecopassport® programme has laid down rigorous, transparent procedures to guarantee the reliability and compliance of the product data with international regulations and standards and to allow manufacturers to publish PEPs and have them verified.

Access to published data

PEPs are published on the PEP Ecopassport database. Access to the data is controlled by the declarant, who can make them directly accessible through the portal and also in other databases, including the French INIES database, used as part of RE2020 environmental regulations.

PEP Ecopassport Association

A leading and pioneering association in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)

The PEP Association is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2009. It sets out to help reduce the environmental impact of electrical, electronic and HVAC products, through the dissemination of reliable, transparent environmental data which have been verified across the whole of the value chain.

In compliance with ISO 14025, the Association sets out the rules for the governance of the programme and draws up, verifies and publishes Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) in the form of Product Environmental Profiles (PEP) in compliance with the principles of transparency, independence and ethics.

The Association also sets out to bring together sector stakeholders in order to promote and develop these practices. The PEP Association is an internationally acknowledged benchmark operator in the sector and contributes to a national and European standardisation while working towards harmonising programmes between the different countries.
